International Women's Day

By 1605 Collective

Happy International Women's Day! Today is a day to honour and celebrate the achievements of women around the world. Here at 1605 Collective, we are thrilled to join in this celebration by highlighting the work of some of our favourite female photographers.

These women have not only created iconic images, but have also broken barriers and paved the way for future generations of female photographers. From Lisette Model, who revolutionised street photography with her candid and evocative images, to Francesca Woodman, whose haunting self-portraits challenged traditional notions of beauty and femininity, each of these photographers has left an indelible mark on the art form.

Sally Mann, Tina Modotti, Dorothea Lange, Claude Cahun, Marta Syrko, Imogen Cunningham and Berenice Abbott are also on our list of favourite female photographers. They have captured powerful moments, people and places and continue to inspire us with their stunning work.

This International Women's Day, let's take a moment to honour these pioneering women and recognise the immense impact they have had on the art of photography. We are grateful for their contributions and will continue to champion and support women in photography and all creative fields.
