Jasper Krabbé | Portfolio
Coming from a family with a strong artistic heritage, graffiti artist and a painter Jasper Krabbé (b. 1970) grasps his inspiration from his trips to his favourite places in the world like Cuba and Oceania. With major exhibitions in Europe, Latin America and United States, Krabbé is faithful to his distinct style: rough brushstrokes on the pages of newspapers or encyclopedias. Mixed with words and printed images, his portraits and figures come alive as memories, lucid dreams and vivid nostalgic moments of longing about something that cannot be returned.
Jasper Krabbé has graduated from Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and at the Cooper Union New York in Painting and Graphics. Currently he lives with his wife, a talented photographer Annemarieke van Drimmelen and their daughter June in the Netherlands.
This year, both Jasper and Annemarieke have published their first book together named June (published by Libraryman), after their two-year-old daughter. The book mixes the techniques of painting and photography and tells a story from the point of view of a young child.
