Laura Hospes began taking self-portraits at the age of 16 as a means of connecting with others and has continued to do so because of the emotional comfort it provides. Her self-portraits serve as a way to reveal her inner self, with the camera being a source of understanding and comfort. Through her photography, she has been able to process the struggles in her life. The resulting images are striking and offer a glimpse into the world of a young woman who deals with depression and anxiety. She is currently working on a project focused on care and healing.

Laura's photography career took off when she won the Emerging Talent Award from LensCulture while she was still studying at the Photoacademy. Her story was quickly picked up by various media outlets and her photographs were featured on front pages. Despite her success, she has maintained a balanced pace, taking time for her therapies and hospitalisations.

Her work has been displayed in several international exhibitions and fairs, including in San Francisco, Venice, New York, Amsterdam, London, Arles, Paris, and Berlin.

Laura's book, UCP, which was published by Lecturis Publishers and is available in bookstores and online, serves as a closure to a difficult period in her life. The book has been recognised as one of the best photo books of 2016 by De Volkskrant and was shortlisted as one of the Best Dutch Book Designs of 2016. It has been displayed in several international book fairs and exhibitions.
