1605 Collective recently had the opportunity to visit the studios of two exceptional artists, Tina Berning and Julio Rondo, during a tour organized by Jäger Art. We brought our trusted camera along and captured the essence of their creative spaces.

Tina Berning
Tina Berning is a Berlin-based artist and illustrator, internationally acclaimed for her award-winning work. After beginning her career as a graphic designer, she shifted her focus to drawing and illustration in 2000. Since then, her work has been featured in leading publications such as The New York Times, Playboy, Vogue, Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and Architectural Digest, and has been included in notable art anthologies.
Her deep exploration of the human figure, particularly women, has become a central theme in her artistic practice. Berning’s work has been exhibited in solo shows across the US, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Canada.

Julio Rondo
Julio Rondo, born in Sotrondio, Spain, is known for his distinctive technique of applying acrylic and spray paint behind glass, a method he has refined over many years. This approach gives his abstract paintings an object-like quality, with broad brushstrokes and a vibrant color palette that seems to glow in natural light.
After moving to Germany in 1962, Rondo studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart under Prof. KRH So  nderborg. He later became a professor at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart, a role he held from 1989 to 2020. His works are part of prestigious museum collections, including the German Bundestag and Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, as well as corporate collections such as Deutsche Bank and Allianz.

Through this tour, 1605 Collective not only had the opportunity to engage with the artists and their creative processes but also visually documented the unique environments where their work comes to life.
