Duality lives at the heart of everything Casa Muñoz creates. Restraint is always tempered by indulgence, and a wealth of textures play against one another. Their designs are warm, but there’s always something raw, always an edge. Founded in 2014 by the husband-and-wife team Mafalda Muñoz and Gonzalo Machado, the Madrid-based studio crafts interiors formed through a curator's perspective. Muñoz has design pulsing through her veins: her late father the founder of legendary Casa & Jardín and her mother a French interior decorator. Machado, once an assistant to Mario Testino, approaches space with a precise but never clinical eye. Together, they create projects that feel both timeless and utterly contemporary.

For Casa Muñoz, every project begins with a fundamental belief: that spaces should not be merely functional. This philosophy drives Mafalda Muñoz and Gonzalo Machado; they navigate a delicate balance between respect for architectural heritage and decidedly modern sensibilities. Their approach prioritises depth over superficiality, substance over trend. At once masculine and feminine, simultaneously light but intimate, the homes and rooms they craft are exercises in tension and juxtaposition, with subtraction celebrated over superfluous excess.

A natural fusion of old and new forms the cornerstone of their work. Whether 16th-century houses in Pedraza or modern apartments in Gstaad or even elegant, restrained spaces for internationally renowned supermodels, they weave carefully curated antiques amidst sleek, contemporary pieces, often incorporating designs from Paco Muñoz's archive of over 20,000 pieces.
