Photography books, made with the photographer, from the first edit to the press.
1605 is an independent publisher of photography books, started by photographer Bastiaan Woudt. Every title is made together with the photographer: the edit, the design by Janneke Schrey, the choice of paper and the print run, which we check at the printer ourselves.
Our books are printed in Europe and sold through this shop and through bookshops and galleries. Most of them are published by us. Some are made on commission for others, and some are made together with a partner.

We make books on commission for artists, companies, brands and architects: a body of work, an archive, a collection, a building. You bring the material, we do the edit, the design, the paper, the printing and the binding. If you want, we also organise the launch.

We also publish together with galleries, museums, brands and other publishers. The costs, the distribution and the credit are shared. The way the book is made stays the same.
