Event Horizon | Best Photobook of 2022 in Poland

By 1605 Collective
Books, Kacper Kowalski

We are proud to announce that Kacper Kowalski's book "Event Horizon" (published by 1605 Collective in 2022) was nominated for the best book of the year by Fotopolis, in Poland and won the 3d place.

"Event Horizon" is the artist's fourth book of aerial photography. All the images, taken during the gyrocopter flight from a height of around 150 metres, give access to the most intimate parts of Kowalski's soul, revealing his introspective approach to nature and the discovery of his vulnerability and emotions. "With the onset of winter, I embarked on a journey in search of harmony. Driven by instinct, I ventured further and further until I passed the limits of rationality," the author reveals. A journey of some 10,000 kilometres and 200 hours in the air resulted in poetic and picturesque images taken around Kowalski's hometown of Gdynia in northern Poland.
